Would you like to improve your speaking skills?
Here at Chiltern Speakers in Beaconsfield, we practise how to improve all aspects of our speaking and communication skills supported by feedback from other members. It’s a fun way to overcome the nerves that many people feel when speaking in front of others and an inexpensive way to improve your skills. Members range from the fairly confident to the extremely nervous so, however you feel, you will be in good company. (For more of an an idea of what we do – read A Typical Evening )
Guests are always welcome – it costs nothing to come along and there is no obligation to speak until you are ready to do so. Members and guests must be 18 or over. If you would like to speak to someone before coming along, phone 01494 872546.
You will:
- become more confident in front of an audience
- learn to think on your feet
- learn and practise techniques for formal and informal speaking and presentations
- improve your communication and listening skills
- learn leadership skills
- meet like-minded people
We use the programme from Toastmasters International which works both for the most nervous beginner and for the experienced speaker who wants to learn new skills. When you join, you’ll receive Toastmaster manuals which will help you work your way through a series of 10 short speeches, and a number of less formal speaking roles. You work at your own pace, with no pressure, and there is always plenty of help available.
You will learn how to organise your speaking, how to use gestures, how to speak with conviction and sincerity and how to motivate your audience. So come along as a guest and see how it works!
Chiltern Speakers Club was established in 1996 and chartered with Toastmasters International 1st June 1998 as Club 4827 (Area 21, Division H) in District 71 – UK/Ireland.
